According to latest reports, Liverpool are in pole position to sign Danny Ings after Burnley got relegated from Premier League this season. The player has been the brightest spot in Burnley’s campaign as he managed to score 10 goals this season in Premier League.

The 22-year old have drawn interest from Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool over the course of the season but the Reds appear to be his preferred destination at the end of current campaign.

The player’s contract will end at the end of the season and Liverpool need to pay a sum between £3m – £5m as compensation to Burnley. Liverpool earlier went for a deal in January in which they offered Burnley £4m and a loan-back till the season is over but Burnley rejected the offer.

The striker will add much needed pace to the Reds slow paced football and his versatility meant he could score many goals for the Reds next season. The striker have scored 4 with his right, 3 with his left and 3 with his head during this season which makes him versatile.

With strikers Balotelli, Lambert and Borini all expected to leave the club at the end of the season, Danny Ings will provide a short-term solution to Liverpool until Sturridge returns from injury next season.
