Lyon and French International star Youann Gourucff has been harshly told by his current club Lyon that he is free to leave in the summer.

Lyon president Jean-Michel-Aulas was speaking to the French television on Sunday after PSG’s win over Montpelier meant that Lyon will not win the Ligue 1 title this season.

Aulas said: “He’s a great player but he just couldn’t fit in,”

“What would have been wonderful is if he could have proved with Lyon what a great player he is,”

“This is not great news for him,” Aulas admitted. “But it stops here.”

Arsenal have been previously linked with the player on several occasions in the past but never an agreement could be reached. With the player set to become a free-agent in the summer, Arsenal will be able to sign the French star for free.

Arsenal are preparing for Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Thomas Rosicky to depart from the club in the summer. With the future of Jack Wilshere yet to be decided, Arsene Wenger can look forward to Yoann Gourcuff to be his new midfield general.

Arsenal are also linked with Real Madrid’s Isco to build to title winning team next season. With Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez already in their ranks, adding the likes of Yoann Gourcuff and Isco would ensure a well-balanced side for Arsene Wneger next season.
