Manchester United lost 2-0 to PSG in the International Champions Cup and the French side were crowned winners of the competition.

In the post match press conference Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal commented about Angel Di Maria who is rumoured to leave Old Trafford for PSG.

Angel Di Maria arrived at Old Trafford last season from Real Madrid for a British transfer record of £59.7 million and did not have the best season with successive injuries despite a kick start of his United career.

After financial fair play restrictions were lifted from the French champions PSG this season, they came back in pursuit of their long term target Angel Di Maria and according to reports the deal is close to be finalised.

Moreover, Di Maria failed to report back to Manchester United’s pre-season training on scheduled date 25th July after an extended vacation due to his Copa America engagement. On being asked about it, Van Gaal confirmed that he had not boarded a plane to meet his team-mates in San Jose as planned.

After the defeat against PSG, questions again arouse about the absentee and van Gaal said that he has no idea where Di Maria is.

“I don’t know where he is”, van Gaal said.

But his counterpart Laurent Blanc who is in charge of PSG stated about the situation positively and according to him the deal is close to an end.

“Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are two big clubs, and negotiations can be difficult but we are close to an end,” confirmed the Frenchman
