With just 41 points from 22 games this season, Manchester United are currently in sixth place in the points table, come the end of January.

Jose Mourinho, the new manager at the Old Trafford, spent close to £150m on his squad in the summer but is yet to get them to their previous best. But he’ll be happy with the progress; his side has been making, over the last couple of months.

However, Mourinho has been looking to get some players to add to the squad this month and this has seen him linked with some big names from Europe.

But one player who he wants to add from the Merseyside in England is defender Seamus Coleman.

One of the most experienced players in that position in the league at the moment, Coleman has been a mainstay at the Goodison Park for eight years now and is an important part of the plans of Ronald Koeman for the future.

However, he has been attracting interest from the Old Trafford for some time now with former manager David Moyes also looking to get him to the club in his time in Manchester.

And Jose Mourinho is now desperate to add some cover to his back-line and has been targeting Coleman from the start of the month.

According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, Bookies have slashed the odds on the Ireland international’s move to Old Trafford before the deadline day.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho recently revealed he is not expecting to see any incoming transfers this month but this report suggests the Red Devils are 1/3 favorites to land the 28-year-old.

These odds are the shortest prized in any of the transfers in the Premier League but Everton are not yet ready to let him go.

Antonio Valencia, the first choice right-back at the club, is a regular starter and has been decent this season. Coleman will only act as a backup if he makes the move, making this deal all the more interesting.

Jose Mourinho has settled into a starting XI that is winning him games and it’ll be important for him not to try and change too many things.

Though they are still alive in all four competitions, they have enough fire-power if used properly to get over the line and will not need to spend big on the Everton star.

Do you think Manchester United should move for Seamus Coleman?
