Manchester United are one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window this year.
They have made a number of additions to their squad that has improved the quality and depth to the level Mourinho wants it to be but the new manager is still not done with his business.
The club is looking a strong outfit in attack but is a bit weak in defense. Mourinho has already added Eric Bailly to the squad, a center back who is expected to play a huge role. But he is still looking for some top class defenders around Europe to add some mettle to his defense.
The likes of John Stones and Leonardo Bonucci were linked with a move recently to Old Trafford but a new name has now emerged in the papers today.
AS Roma’s in-form defender Belgium, Kostas Manolas is now reportedly the next transfer target for the Red Devils this summer.
The 25-year old Greek international is one of the most reliable defenders in Serie A and has been a consistent performer for the Italian outfit in the last two seasons. He is a strong centre half who is not afraid to keep his body on the line for the team and his attributes are a perfect fit for the Premier League.
This has seen a number of clubs including the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City, both of who need centre halves this summer, scout for him.
The Rome outfit are adamant that they do not want Manolas to go and are ready to offer him a new deal but it is now reported that all such talks have broken down and that the player may well be on his way out of the club this summer.
Manolas’ agent revealed earlier today that the 25-year old is attracting interests from a host of club but was coy in making sure that he does not give a hint about where he might be playing next season.
“The best clubs in Europe want him,” Ioannis Evangelopoulos, Manolas’ agent, said in a recent interview.
“There isn’t just Manchester City, but also United and Chelsea. I haven’t spoken with Roma for a while. Will he remain in the capital? No comment,” he added.
It will be interesting to see where the 25-year old play next season but any club who want him to move this summer will have to pay a handsome fee to the Italian club for his services.
Where do you think Manolas will play in the next season?
