Juventus have agreed to sign Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid for a reported fee of €18million. Mandzukic was never to establish himself at Vicente Calderon following his €22million move from Bayern Munich.
Mandzukic’s arrival is also down to the sudden decision of Carlos Tevez deciding to quit Juventus in favor of a move to his hometown club Boca Juniors.
Tevez told Juventus hierarchy about his decision and prompted the Serie A Champions to make a move for Mandzukic.
The Croatian was rumored to be on the way to Manchester United but Juventus moved ahead in the race and signed the striker for a reported fee of €18million.
According to Sky Italia, Juventus officials were in Madrid earlier this week to close out a deal to bring the striker to Serie A.
Ever since his arrival, Mandzukic has failed to adapt to Coach Diego Simeone’s tactics. The writing was always on the wall for Mandzukic following the arrival of Fernando Torres at the club.
According to Italian media, Mandzukic is believed to have signed a deal until the year 2019 with wage package being close to €4million-a-year.
Mandzukic will join the likes of Sami Khedira, Pablo Dybala and Joao Miranda, who have agreed a move to ‘The Old Lady’ ahead of next season.
