According to the latest reports, Borussia Dortmund’s star defender Mats Hummels have told his team-mates and BVB team management that he will leave the German giants this summer.
The26-year German International have been Manchester United’s top transfer target since last summer. Dortmund’s dismal form this season meant they won’t play Champions League next season and Hummels wants to consider his options.
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke also suggests a potential move in his latest press talk by quoting: “In this moment, this a total dummy discussion, because there is no offer. If one arrives, we will discuss it internally and make a decision. But this decision will only be taken by BVB.
“The situation at Dortmund is like this: We’ve lost one major player each year, but we don’t stop playing football. To be clear: Mats knows his contractual situation, he described it in that interview himself. The decision where Mats will play next season will only be taken by BVB.”
Brought up by FC Bayern, Mats Hummels have become world-class during his time at Dortmund by claiming successive Bundesliga titles back in 2010-11 and 2011-12. His current contract at Dortmund will only expire in June 2017.
