Manchester United are not used to losing players to European giants but they might have to part ways with star shot-stopper David de Gea this summer.

The Spanish star has been the most consistent player for the Red Devils for more than a couple of seasons now and even this campaign, he has won Manchester United a few points already.

He is easily one of the best players in his position in Europe and is integral to the squad at the club but his consistency has seen some of the best clubs in Europe scout for him.

No one more than Spanish side Real Madrid.

The Bernabeu outfit are in desperate need of a shot-stopper this summer with current first choice Keylor Navas failing to impress the manager with his performances this season.

This has seen Zinedine Zidane look at some of the best names in the business in Thibaut Courtois and Gianluigi Donnarumma but the Manchester United man remains the top priority transfer target for the Frenchman at the end of the season.

The 26-year old has been at the Old Trafford since 2011 and has made close to 200 appearances for the club already since his move from Atletico Madrid.

Born and brought up in that city, De Gea is desperate for a move back to his homeland and reports from the Spanish media today claim that he could well be on his way back to Spain before the start of the next season.

Real Madrid wanted to sign the goalkeeper a couple of years ago but missed out due to a unique reason but Spanish media outlet Don Balon have today claimed that Jose Mourinho has given him a green light to move back to his hometown.

He could cost the La Liga giants more than £60m this summer with Manchester United not ready to listen to offers lower than the value. However, Mourinho has his own plans.

The Portuguese manager is looking for a partner for Paul Pogba in the midfield and has reportedly identified Real Madrid’s Casemiro as a decent solution.

And the report from Don Balon suggests that Mourinho is ready to accept Casemiro as a part of the deal for David de Gea this summer.

The 25-year old Brazilian has been criticized recently by the Real Madrid manager who would be more than happy to let him go.

And with Mourinho desperate for him, this deal could be productive for both parties. But do you think De Gea will move back to Madrid this summer?
