Manchester United starlet close to breaking another club record

Manchester United have over the years been known as a team that had a very strong teenage contingent in their squad.

They have always believed in young players who have shown great potential and it has always paid good dividends in the past.

Even in the current season, Louis van Gaal broke the bank to land young Frenchman Anthony Martial and he has grown on to become United’s most consistent player in the final third.

He has already scored 13 goals this season and has broken Wayne Rooney’s Manchester derby record but he is closing in on another one and is just 4 goals away from it.

There are not many teenagers who get to score loads of goals in their debut season at a club as huge as Untied but Martial is just 4 goals away from equaling the record for the most goals scored in a debut season as a teenager for United.

Here are the top 10 players on the list.

Cristiano Ronaldo– 18 years (6 goals in 40 games) 2003/04

George Best- 17 years (6 goals in 26 games) 1963/64

Paul Scholes- 19 years (7 goals in 25 games) 1994/95

Ryan Giggs- 17 years (7 goals in 51 games) 1991/92

Andy Ritchie- 17 years (10 goals in 21 games) 1978/79

Bobby Charlton- 18 years (12 goals in 17 games) 1956/57

Anthony Martial- 19 years (13 goals in 40 games) 2015/16 (as of 9th April)

Norman Whiteside- 17 years (14 goals in 57 games) 1982/83

Brian Kidd- 18 years (17 goals in 50 games) 1967/68

Wayne Rooney- 18 years (17 goals in 43 games) 2004/05

Martial has at least 7 games to go this season and has a great chance to reach the top of the pile and pinch Wayne Rooney off another Manchester United record.

But he has a long way to go to reach the heights the England international or most other players in the list have reached in their career.

Do you think Martial has what it takes to lead United back to glory?
