Tottenham Hotspur’s French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has suffered a wrist injury during the club’s pre-season training. He was a major transfer target for Premier League Manchester United who spotted him as a potential replacement of Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea if he leaves the club this summer for Real Madrid.

Hugo Lloris who has been instrumental under the bar for Spurs for the past few seasons will mostly miss the majority of the preparotory period before the season begins.

In an official statement released in official website, the club said: “The Club can confirm that Hugo Lloris has sustained a fractured wrist during the close season period.

“The France goalkeeper will continue to work alongside the First Team squad to build up his fitness in a bid to be ready for the start of the season.

“Our medical team will continue to monitor his rehabilitation and progress during pre-season.”

Manchester United for long have been closely linked with the French custodian. The club wanted him if De Gea left, but Tottenham clearly mentioned several times that the goalkeeper is not for sale.

The wrist fracture might force Hugo Lloris to remain out of action for the first few matches in the new season of Premier League. This is a huge blow for Spurs who are scheduled to play their opening game against Manchester United.
