Robin van Persie needs to fight for his place in the last few matches of the season as Manchester United are ready to consider offers for the Dutch striker this summer.
The 31-year old have managed only 10 goals in 28 appearences this season and managed only 2 goals in 2015. His season was hampered by injuries and despite Falcao’s ineffectiveness he could not establish himself in starting line up this season.
With the player turning 32 in the summer and the arrival of Memphis Depay from PSV have made life difficult for van Persie at Old Trafford. Manchester United are in need to offload some of their attacking players as they have a huge pool for the attacking positions in the likes of van Persie, Chicharito (on loan at Real Madrid), Rooney, di Maria, Mata, Valencia, Januzaj, Fellaini and Depay(next season).
With van Gaal considering some new attacking transfers this summer, Manchester United will try to offload the players that are looking unsettled in van Gaal’s system. van Persie will be 32 years old in summer and onl has one left in his contract which means he could contribute very less to the team in the upcoming season.
Back in January, the player admitted his tricky situation at the club by saying, “It is not up to me. For the moment I am staying here for 18 months. That is it really. I can’t look into the future.
“I don’t know what is going to happen after that. We shall have to wait and see.”
