Manchester United have been struck with countless number of injuries with major number of injuries happening at united’s back-line. With Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Rafael, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Tyler Blackett all injured Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal looks to have turned to Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi for the much needed defensive cover at the back, according to EXPRESS.
Manchester United have been monitoring Nicolas Otamendi as the potential replacement signing if the deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Matts Hummels falls through. United maintain Hummels as their priority signing in the coming January Transfer Window, but if by any means deal does not go through then Argentina central Otamendi is being sought as the potential signing for Manchester United.
As per the reports from Manchester Evening News, Louis Van Gaal will be handed a £30 Million to buy defensive cover for United’s shaky back line and as the things stand Nicolas Otamendi seems to be the right fit as Mats Hummels has been valued around £40 Million by Borussia Dortmund. French newspaper L’Equipe has reported Valencia trying to sign Marseille center back Doria as the possible replacement for Nicolas Otamendi.
This news must come as a major boost in Manchester United’s pursuit of Otamendi, 26, who has already made 16 appearances for Valencia this season and is valued around £30 Million by the Spanish side Valencia. Despite winnig six back to back games, Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is still not happy with defensive options at his disposal due to injuries.
Manchester United fans will have to wait for the deal for Otamnedi to go through as United would look to play the waiting game of Hummels and Dortmund. Arsenal and Manchester City have also expressed their desire of signing the German International which might prompt United to act swiftly and sign Nicolas Otamendi for the much needed Defensive cover.
Nicolas Otamendi is a close friend of fellow Argentina International Angel Di Maria which might act as one of the pulling factors and tempt Nicolas Otamendi for a move to Old Trafford.
