Manchester United look all set to make a swoop for Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic after reports of a fallout between player and the club flooded the Spanish media.
Mandzukic joined Ateltico Madrid last season as a replacement to Diego Costa and initially looked like an instant hit at the club. However, as the season went on Diego Simeone put all his trust in French forward Antoine Griezmann as Atletico’s key attacking player.
Having gone out of favor at the La Liga club, Mandzukic is seeking for a move away from the club and Louis Van Gaal wants to make a swoop for the Croatian.
Van Gaal has all the funds at his disposal to bring in quality players at the club to ensure United’s progress in to a team capable enough of dominating the Premier League.
For that to happen, the Dutchman must focus on strengthening the key areas of weakness for the club. At the moment, United are in desperate need of a world class goal scorer and if the rumors are to be believed, that top striker is going to be Atletico Madrid’s Mario Mandzukic.
Manchester United face stiff completion from Chelsea and Liverpool if they want to sign Christian Benteke, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is slowly emerging as the surprise target for the Premier League. If Zlatan becomes available, United will be tempted to make a bid for the Swedish talisman.
For now, United remain keen on signing Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid this summer.
