The first Manchester Derby of the 2015-16 Premier League season is almost upon us as two both the clubs who are at the top end of the table take on each other in a mouth watering encounter at the Old Trafford on Sunday. Both clubs are fresh from convincing victories last weekend in the league and will be hoping to flick the bragging rights in the city.
Pellegrini and Louis van Gaal have started the season well and this game is a chance for both clubs to strengthen their place at the top of the table. This article is a preview of the game along with the team news and predictions.
The Manchester City vs Manchester United match will be played on Sunday the 25th of October at the Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. The kick off is scheduled at 2:05 pm BST (6:35 pm IST)
Manchester United do not have a huge list of injuries as most of their first team players are available for the game. The only causalities for Louis van Gaal will be Ashley Young who is expected to return within two weeks. McNair and Luke Shaw will also not be available for selection as they are recovering from injuries.
Pellegrini on the other hand has a bit of a problem with injuries to his star players. Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Fabian Delph are all set to miss out on this derby. Samir Nasri has also picked up a hamstring problem but the extent of his injury is still to be decided. Gael Clichy is also on the sidelines for this game.
Manchester United had a long trip in the mid week against CSKA Moscow where they were not able to take more than a point. They were not really convincing on the day and the manager will be hoping that his team can bring back the form that they showed in the 3-0 victory at the Goodison Park last weekend.
Manchester City on the other hand had a lucky escape and picked all three points from a late winner by Kevin de Bruyne. They were also in ruthless form in the weekend as they put 5 past a helpless Bournemouth side at home. With many star players absent, Pellegrini wanted his men to step up and they did it in fine fashion over the two games.
For United, the danger man has been Anthony Martial in attack. He has been a revelation after coming to England and will hope to continue the good form against their city rivals. In mid-field, Ander Herrera was in exceptional form at Goodison and will hope to replicate it against the Citizens.
Pellegrini will be hoping that the young winger Raheem Sterling can bring his confidence that he has got from the hatrick he scored last weekend. He along with de Bruyne and Wilfred Bony should be at their best if they want to trouble a United defense that has slowly grown in confidence as the season has progressed.

The match between the two clubs from Manchester has always been a scintillating affair with both teams trying to out-score each other. The home team has usually had the upper hand in the previous encounters but the form in which City are, they may well be able to get a result out of this game.
