One of the biggest matches of this season will be played when Manchester City travel to Old Trafford to lock horns against Manchester United for the much awaited Manchester derby.
Another aspect that will make the game worth watching will be the duel between two of the world’s best managers- Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola. Both the managers have started their new journey brilliantly having won all three league outings thus far. Pep Guardiola’s City side, who are currently on top of the table, have registered convincing victories over Sunderland, Stoke City and West Ham. On the other hand, United have put behind a disappointing last season and have started brightly with hard-fought wins in the opening three games. With so much at stake, it is quite clear that a high-voltage clash is once again on the cards.
Manchester United’s squad is growing from strength to strength under their newly-appointed boss Jose Mourinho. They are looking strong in every aspect of the game. However, there are some injury concerns for the Red Devils as there are slight doubts over the fitness of defender Luke Shaw and midfielder Marouane Fellaini. But they will reportedly start. Meanwhile, out of favour defender, Matteo Darmian could feature for the first time under Mourinho as favoured right-back Antonio Valencia is returning very late from international duty.
Predicted lineup: David De Gea, Matteo Darmian, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Zlatan Ibrahimovic
They have started very well under the Spanish tactician and have so far won all the matches. However, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach will have a lot to worry about in the upcoming match as his star striker Sergio Aguero will not play the match after being handed a three-match suspension by the FA. The defence will be another problem for City as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the first three matches. With United attack looking dangerous, the City defenders will have to play out of their skin to stop them.
Predicted lineup: Claudio Bravo, Bacary Sagna, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi,Aleksandar Kolarov, Fernandinho, Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Nolito, Kelechi Iheanacho
- Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola have clashed 16 times before. While the contests have always been closely fought but the Spaniard has come out on top on 7 occasions with 3 going in the Portuguese’s favour.
