Video – Manchester United winger join Turkish giants, receives a grand welcome from Fenerbahce fans

Manchester United’s Portuguese winger Luis Nani has officially joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce for £4.25m. The 28-year-old footballer who had spent a year on loan last season with Sporting Lisbon has been sold by Manchester United according to Sky Sports.

Nani is in Istanbul to complete all the formalities of his move to the club. He was greeted whole-heartedly by the Fenerbahce fans.

Speaking about the transfer Nani said: “I really am very happy to be here now. I see this as a new opportunity in my career. This is an opportunity for me to show myself. I want to be successful.

“I’ve seen all these fans coming out for me and I was really happy. I want to show them my best football. I always do the best that I can.”

He further mentioned that he had gathered idea about the club from his national team-mates Bruno Alves and Raul Meireles.

“Fenerbahce are a club I have always known. Fener is a club that aims high. With the national team I play with Bruno Alves and Raul Meireles and it is very nice for me to come here and feel like I have family. I hope I can quickly fit in.”

Luis Nani played 27 Liga Sagres matches last season for Sporting Lisbon during his loan stint and managed to score 7 goals. He did well at the club and inspired his side to finish third in the league and win Taca de Portugal. The Portuguese has been an integral part of the Manchester United squad since 2007. He played more 150 games for the Red Devils and had won 4 Premier League title and 1 UEFA Champions League.
