Manchester Untied Daily Digest: Transfer news and more

Manchester United’s winning momentum was not enough for them to take them past Stoke City at Old Trafford this weekend.

They were held to a draw by the Potters who are still winless, leaving Mourinho frustrated leading to the international break. It will be interesting to see how the manager will ready his troops for the important games lying ahead this season.

He has recently been linked with some additions to the squad and here are all such transfer stories along with other interesting ones coming out from the club:

Real Madrid man close to Old Trafford:

Manchester United have been linked to some of the best players in Europe recently and Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale is now first in line.

The Real Madrid man is not happy to be in the shadow of his Portuguese counterpart and Manchester United have already met Jonathan Barnett the agent of the player at the end of the last week to talk about a potential move. (Diario Gol)

Benfica left-back on Mourinho’s radar:

The manager has been on the lookout for top defenders to add to his squad even after all that he spend in the summer transfer window.

Benfica’s full-back Alex Grimaldo is next on the list with the English club also sending scouts to look over him in a recent game. He will not come for cheap as he has a £51million buy-out clause in his contract. (Daily Mail)

Manchester United v Stoke City - Premier League

Stoke give United their 6th worst start ever:

The Potters managed to hold on to a point this weekend after Martial and Joe Allen cancelled out each other’s goals.

With two defeats and a draw in the first 7 games, this is now officially United’s 6th worst ever start to a Premier League season. It is three points fewer than United had at this stage last season under Louis van Gaal. (Mirror)

It should have been 6-0 says Mourinho:

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho termed his team’s performance as their best this season in their 1-1 draw against Stoke City.

“This is the best performance all season and could have been one of these fat results in the Premier League, it could have been 5-0 or 6-0,” Mourinho told BT Sport.

Germany v Italy - Quarter Final: UEFA Euro 2016

Milan in for Manchester United full-back:

Manchester United are ready to sell some of their top players in the January transfer window or in summer to fund some of their transfers.

And one player who might be on his way is Italian full back Matteo Darmian. Inter Milan are interested in his signature on a loan deal and it looks like a deal that might be stuck in January. (Daily Mail)
