Paris Saint-Germain’s youth sensation Marco Verratti’s agent has clarified that he did not meet anyone in person to discuss his client’s future and the Italian midfielder is happy at the French club.
According to Spanish media, FC Barcelona’s presidential election candidate Toni Freixa had claimed that he had talks with players agent and if he becomes the next President of the club his agenda will be to bring home the young talent at the club.
But according to Sky Sports‘ report, But Verratti’s agent, Donati Di Campli, insisted that the 22-year-old midfielder is likely to stay at the Ligue 1 champions.
Donati said: “I haven’t seen Freixa, as was reported in the media, but I have spoken to him on the telephone. But I speak with a lot of people every day and it doesn’t mean anything.
“Marco is absolutely calm, he is happy in Paris and has a long-term contract. Whoever wants him needs to get in contact directly with Paris St Germain and not with us.
“There’s nothing else for us to add.”
Marco Verratti had joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2012 from Pescara. He has already spent three seasons at Paris and has become an integral part of the side thereby cementing his place. Last season proved vital for his career as he played brilliantly for Laurent Blanc’s side. In 32 Ligue appearnces, Verratti scored 2 goals, provided 8 assists and 30 key passes. His stellar performances at the heart of the midfield has impressed many teams.
La Liga giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are the clubs who are interested in the central midfielder.
