Daniel Seaborne

Kolkata, Aug 4 (IANS) City football giants Mohun Bagan on Thursday announced the signing of English defender Daniel Anthony Seaborne for the 2016-17 season.

Seaborne is a central defender and has experience of playing in the English Championship, League One and Scottish Premier League.

He started his career at Exeter City FC and has played for clubs like Coventry City, Bournemouth, Yeovil Town and Southampton.

Danny was playing for Partick Thistle FC in the Scottish Premier League for the past two seasons.

On joining the club Danny said in a release, “I have always played in the United Kingdom so this is a new experience for me. I have heard a lot about Indian football in the past one or two years so I am keen to come out there and bring in my experience to try and help the team.”

“I have heard that the team has won the I-League and the Federation Cup in the past two seasons so being serious contenders for tournaments and championships is what motivated me to make the move to India with Mohun Bagan. I can’t wait to get started.”

Head coach Sanjoy Sen said,“It will be a worthy addition to the Mohun Bagan squad to have a player of his stature. The experience which he possesses will be a boost for our young team.”

He will be arriving in Kolkata from Glasgow on Friday.
