After the sacking saga that unfolded at Stamford Bridge, there is some good news for Mourinho fans as the Portuguese is being heavily liked with a stint at Manchester United!

Though Louis Van Gaal’s contract extends till 2017, it appears that the Dutchman might just be at the top till the end of this term. Though the team sits in a comfortable 4th spot on the league table, but with successive defeats in the past matches and a humbling exit from the Champions League does not bode well for the ex-Barcelona boss. Van Gaal’s tactics have tested both fans and players who are exasperated with a total defensive approach which has potentially made the game devoid of fun as Rafael pointed out in an interview.

What makes the prospect plausible for Mourinho is the close relationship that his agent, Jorge Mendes shares with Manchester United’s vice-chairman Ed Woodward. Furthermore, Mourinho’s credentials are impeccable and after Van Gaal’s boring game plays, Mourinho’s fiery style must just be welcome by the team and the fans.

United are currently eyeing to lure Guardiola to the Theatre Of Dreams, but with the money power of their city counterparts, it will be highly difficult for the Red Devils to get the Spaniard. United had previously also lost the opportunities to cash in on the availability of world class managers like Mourinho, Guardiola and Klopp and wouldn’t surely like to repeat the mistake again.

But Mourinho’s reputation preceeds him and his tantrums and regular ban make managements apprehensive of hiring an individual who regards himself as the Special One. Talking about Mourinho’s antics, Sir Bobby Charlton had gone on to say that the things that the Portuguese do a ‘United manager would never do’. People occupying the top positions at Old Trafford are thought to condone such practices but well these times, they are a changing so one can never know!

Mendes is thought to be skimming through the offers that have come their way and if Manchester United plan to say goodbye to Louis Van Gaal in the summer then Mourinho would be a viable option and the Special One has always shown a desire to manage United if given the chance. Match made in heaven?
