David Moyes saw the greatest achievement of his manegerial career as his Real Sociedad beat Barcelona 1-0 at home to register a famous victory. Real Sociedad have already beaten Real Madrid and Atletcio Madrid this season and this win against Barcelona caps off a memorable trio of victories against the very best in La Liga.
Barcelona came in to the game well aware of Real Madrid’s loss earlier in the day and they had the chance to go top of La Liga but Luis Enrique chose to rest Lionel Messi, Neymar an Dani Alves for the game. Decision backfired badly for Luis Enrique as Barcelona looked like a team without force in the first half as they were chasing Sociadad’s lead.
Real Sociedad fans have seen Carlos Vela score under 5 minutes in David Moyes’s last two home games, this time though there was to be an own goal scored by Jordi Alba on 2′ minute mark to keep the trend going. Jordi Alba saved some of his blushes by making a crucial tackle which stopped Xabi Prieta from doubling Sociadad’s lead in the game.
Barcelona had taken just 1 point out if the last possible 12 points at Sain Sabastian, despite knowing that Luis Enrique chose to rest his stars and let Luis Suarez in attack with Pedro and Munir. Messi was sent in the seconf half to get the goal back for Barcelona but the Argentine superstar failed to create any clear cut opportunity for the Catalan side.
David Moyes has settled in spain really well. Going unbeaten in 5 of the 7 games in charge was capped off beautifully with a win over Barcelona. David Moyes has made Real Sociedad in to a very hard side to beat and are playing like a Giant-Killer this season after beating the Top 3 of La Liga this season. David Moyes joined Real Sociadad after a horrible spell with Manchester United. A win over Barcelona must have made Moyes feel good.
For a change it won’t be David Moyes, whose future will be discussed in the back of a news-paper. Luis Enrique’s indifferent start to the season has not gone well with few quarters of the Catalan side’s management. There are few rumors about Enrique’s job being in danger. We will have to wait for that news to surface properly but for now David Moyes has got the better of his much fancied opponent and capped a famous win to his name by beating Barcelona 1-0 at Sain Sabastian.
This win takes Real Sociadad to 13th in the table and a finish in top half of the table is looking likely now. Barcelona, however, had a glorious chance to go ahead of Real Madrid in the league table but they blew the chance big time. Barcelona are tied with Atletico Madrid om 38 points, only to be ahead on the virtue of Goal Difference. Real Madrid top the La Liga table with 39 points.
