Ex-Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli has made country man Alexis Sanchez a priority if he moves to Chelsea in the summer. In an exclusive the Sunday Express report that Sampaoli has identified Sanchez as his transfer priority if he signs up with the Blues this summer.
Sampaoli parted ways with the Chile National team earlier this month and has now been added to Roman Abramovich’s wish-list. According to the report, that list also features Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone, Juventus boss Massimilano Allegri and Italy coach Antonio Conte.
Sampaoli has an impressive CV after he guided Chile to the last 16 of the 2014 World Cup and also won the Copa America last year. For Chile’s triumphant Copa America, Sampaoli came second in the FIFA World Coach of the Year.
He was on Swansea City’s wish-list to replace the sacked Garry Monk but believes if he is coming to the Premier League it will be with a bigger club.
If he does manage to land the Blues job, one of his top priorities would be to reunite with Sanchez who played a major part in Chile’s World Cup and Copa America campaigns.
Arsenal signed Sanchez in 2014 from Barcelona in a deal worth £35million and it looks impossible that Wenger would be interested in selling him. Alexis himself has reiterated his desire to stay with the Gunners as he wants to win trophies with them.
But if Sampaoli convinces Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich he is the right man then a huge bid would be on the cards.
The report also states that Sampaoli is learning English and would love the opportunity of moving to Stamford Bridge.
