English champions, Chelsea, have finally announced the signing of former Manchester United star Radamel Falcao from Monaco on a season-long loan with Mario Pasalic joining the French side for the next season.
Radamel managed just 4 goals in 29 appearances for Manchester United last season but will join his new club Chelsea during the pre-season tour of North America. Falcao is expected to report to the team at Montreal on 19th July or the 20th after been granted some extra time for rest as he participated for Columbia in the Copa America recently.
“I am very happy to be joining Chelsea and can’t wait to start training and help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe,” said the Columbian striker who joined Monaco for a £50m move in the year of 2013.
Former team-mates at Atletico Madrid, Filipe Luís and Courtois will be reunited at Chelsea with Falcao. Manager Jose Mourinho said, “For a player of his level and quality, it’s a real shame people in England think Falcao is the player who was at Manchester United,” in an interview with the Latin American station DirecTV Sports last month.
Will Falcao be a hit in his 2nd season in England with the current English champions? Only time will tell but on paper, this seems like a brilliant signing for Chelsea.
