Indian Super League franchise FC Pune City has successfully roped in former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu. The club officially announced the news via Twitter.

The Tweet read:

The striker will join the Hrithik Roshan owned franchise as their marquee player for the 2015 ISL season. The ex-Romanian interntaional is all set to replace David Trezeguet who was the team’s captain and marquee player in the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League.

Adrian Mutu has played for several top clubs in his illustrious career which includes Premier League giants Chelsea and Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus. He had played alongside moder day football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Juventus.

The pinnacle of his career was spent at Fiorentina where he played for 5 season. Mutu has represented his national team 77 times and scored 35 international goals.


Adrian Mutu is not at all unknown face in the world of football. People remember for him for all the good as well as the bad things on and off the field. First of his many controversies happened during his stint at Chelsea. He was accused of breach of contract without any notice and thus was punished.

In 2011 he was suspended from International football for Romani after he and his team mate they were found drinking at a bar while the other players were playing in a friendly match against San Marino.
