Guardiola desperate to bring ex-Liverpool star to Manchester City next season

Manchester City announced earlier this month that Manuel Pellegrini, irrespective of the results this season, will be replaced by Spanish maestro Pep Guardiola who will take charge of the club next season.

Though he is 5 months away from taking over the Premier League club, Guardiola has apparently already started planning for his time in England. He has set his sights on one of the most prolific strikers at the moment in world football.

Guardiola has now sanctioned a raid on his former club FC Barcelona for the informed striker Luis Suarez for a move back to the Premier League this summer.

Suarez who will turn 30 next season will cost the club in excess of 40 million but it is understood that the club and the to be manager are hopeful that they can land the star striker for the next season.

However, Luis Suarez, after his big-money move from Liverpool to Barcelona has had the time of his life playing alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar and is the leading goal scorer in Europe at the moment. He is understood to be happy at the Camp Nou and is not keen on a move away from the club.

However, Luis Suarez’ agent is Pep Guardiola’s brother and it is rumored that the Etihad franchise can land the striker if a proper deal is stuck and the money is spent.

The new manager at Manchester City will be given a blank cheque to help him rebuild the squad at the Etihad and will first try to lower the average age of the squad. However, Suarez at 30 is in his prime and can help lift any team to the top.

Juventus’ Paul Pogba is another prime target – and the bidding for the French midfielder will start at £65m in the summer. But it’s Suarez who interests him the most, having spent three years in England with Liverpool.

Suarez recently gave a statement that he will play only for Liverpool if he comes back to the Premier League, but playing under Guardiola may be too good an offer to refuse.

Do you think El Pistelero will dawn the blue of Manchester?
