Manchester City have great times ahead with Spanish genius Pep Guardiola set to take over the club and replace Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season.

This will leave the current crop of players at the club fighting for places as the manager will look to get his set of players to the club to aid him in his adventure in the Premier League.

And Guardiola is set to set the bar high up as he is reportedly plotting a sensational move for a star European player.

Spanish outlet Sport has claimed that the 45-year old manager has made Juventus’ mid-fielder Paul Pogba his top transfer target this summer.

The Italian mid-fielder is among the elite group of footballers who have been nominated for the Ballon d’Or recently and is a hot prospect with clubs likes Real Madrid, Chelsea and Barcelona scouting for him.

English franchise Chelsea were reportedly rejected in their approach for the player last summer even as a £70m bid was placed on the table.

This undermines the importance of the player to the club who are reluctant to depart ways with the 23-year old.

Juve’s club director Giuseppe Marotta is adamant Pogba won’t be leaving Serie A but the ex-Manchester United man is now a priority for Pep Guardiola when he takes over the Etihad outfit next season.

In a recent interview, Marotta said, “Pogba is a Juventus player and still has an ongoing contract with us.”

“All the conditions are there for him to continue with Juventus for the upcoming years,” he added.

However, Guardiola has reportedly made it clear that Pogba is integral to his plans at the Etihad which will see the club battle it out with Chelsea and Real Madrid for a potential move this summer.

A bid in the region of £75m will be necessary to even make the Italian side think and with all three clubs capable of meeting the asking price, it will be interesting to see how this story pans out in the transfer window.

Pogba has been superb this season scoring 8 goals and picking up 11 assists and helped his side challenge for the Italian title in the second year running.

With his form, Pogba will be an important player for France and if he can take the hosts of the EURO16 to glory, his price tag might go out-of reach.

This is one of the reasons that the current Bayern Munich manager wants the deal for the 23-year old done even before the start of the competition.

Do you think Paul Pogba can fit into Guardiola’s style of play at Manchester City?
