Lima, Oct 28 (IANS) Former Bayern Munich striker Paolo Guerrero has been included in Peru’s national squad for the team’s World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Brazil next month.
The 31-year-old will lead Peru’s attack alongside Werder Bremen veteran Claudio Pizarro and Red Bull Salzburg’s Yordy Reyna, reported Xinhua. Joint top scorer at this year’s Copa America with four goals, Guerrero has been in poor form for Brazilian club Flamengo.
Having joined the Rio de Janeiro outfit from Corinthians in July, the center forward has netted just four times in 15 appearances. Peru’s Argentinian coach Ricardo Gareca will next week add nine locally based players to the 14 already named.
The Blanquirroja will host Paraguay in Lima on November 13 before travelling to Salvador to face Brazil four days later.
