Jurgen Klopp will be looking to bounce back from their recent form with no wins in the last two competitive matches for the Merseyside franchise. They failed to score in either of those games and will hope to find some goal scoring form to try and better their Anfield record of just 19 wins in the last 40 home games. Klopp has urged the fans to produce a unique atmosphere at home and will hope that it will help his team on the field.
They will face Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich side who have looked good in the last two games. This game will not be easy for the Reds and they will have to be at their best to get all three points. The biggest news coming out of Melwood is the return of Sakho and Flannagan. They will not play a part in this game, but their availability leaves just three players in the injury list for the club. Coutinho who came on for a cameo against Sion is expected to start this game while winger Jordan Ibe will assess his fitness before the game.
Here is how they will line-up against the Baggies on Sunday:
Simon Mignolet: The Belgian at times has not been solid at the back but is the first choice keeper at the club and will start for the hosts on Sunday.
The English right-back has been a solid presence in the Liverpool back line and will start in this position for Liverpool against the Baggies.
The Slovakian has been at the heart of the defense for Liverpool for many seasons now and will have a tough job on Sunday.
The injury to Sakho gave Lovren a chance to get into the squad and he has really impressed the fans and the manager and will hope to cement his place for the upcoming festive period.
The energetic left-back for Liverpool was rested against Sion and will be restored to the starting line-up for the match at Anfield on Sunday.
The Brazilian holding mid-fielder was also rested for the game against Sion. He has been in good form Liverpool off late and will have a job to do in front of the back four.
The German has been one of the brightest players for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp. He will play a big part in the mid-field for Liverpool as he will have to link up with his forwards to create chances on the night.
The club captain returned to full fitness last week and had some crucial game time against Sion. He is an integral part of this squad and will start on Sunday.
Coutinho came off the bench for a cameo in the match against Sion. He showed no signs of rustiness and will surely start against WBA this weekend.
Lallana has been impressive under the new manager Jurgen Klopp. He has been full of energy and has the ability to unlock defenses. He will hope to do the same when they face the Baggies on Sunday.
The Belgian striker was in-effective in the match against Newcastle United last week but will get another chance due to injuries to Sturridge and Ings. He will have to add more to this Liverpool attacks and should gain some goodwill from the fans.
Jordan Ibe if fit and Roberto Firmino will start on the bench for Liverpool this weekend. But Jurgen Klopp might be tempted to start either or both of them to have an, even more, attacking threat. Playing Firmino in the place of Benteke would be one option while James Milner may also be bought into the playing XI resting Jordan Henderson who is yet to play a full 90 minute game for the Reds after coming back from injury. Here is an alternative way that Klopp might line his side up:
Alternative Formation: (4-3-3):
Mignolet; Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno; Lucas, Can, Henderson; Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino
