Manchester United have successfully signed Matteo Darmian and Bastian Schweinsteiger and look set for a successful 2015-16 season. Louis Van Gaal has been relentless in signing players best suiting his formation and PHILOSOPHY.
Earlier in the transfer window, Manchester United captured Dutch prodigy Memphis Depay from PSV in a 25million deal. Amidst all these new signings and the existing stars at Old Trafford, Van Gaal will have his work cut out in selecting the best starting XI for next season.
Louis Van Gaal tried and failed with his trusted 3-5-2 formation and will not go the same route again. On the face of it, Van Gaal would look to go with a four-man defense and having signed Darmian, it would further sure up United’s full-back position.
Last season, Antonio Valencia was used in most of the games and the results were less than convincing.
For last 4-5 seasons, Man United’s midfield has been the biggest cause of concern for the managers and fans. As Schweinsteiger’s arrival seems imminent, Van Gaal will have plenty of options to choose from.
Following the new signings, there are several possibilities on how Manchester United would line-up next season and here is how I see them operate in most of the games, it now all.
Schweinsteiger and Carrick both operating in a 4-1-3-2 or 4-2-3-1 formation
Not many teams will have the luxury of fielding both Carrick and Schweinsteiger in the same line-up. The two pass-masters will add great deal of assurance and calm to United’s midfield.
Van Gaal can be assured of a great deal of upgrade in United’s midfield in terms of passing, tackling and creative sense.
Fielding both Carrick and Schweinsteiger would mean that Angel Di Maria, Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay would become the forward players and will be ably supported by Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and the new boy Matteo Darmian at the back.
United’s predicted 4-1-3-2 formation:
United’s predicted 4-2-3-1 formation:
Taking in to considerations that Man United are still trying to add new players to their squad and Nicolas Otamendi could be the next big-name signing for the Old Trafford club. There are quite suggestions that Van Gaal would be tempted to go with a 3-men defense and filed a 3-5-2 formation with Memphis Depay being shifted to the bench.
United’s predicted 3-5-2 formation:
These all are projections ahead of the next season, at the end it will be Louis Van Gaal who will pick a starting XI best suited to Manchester United and the players.
