EPL legend: Manchester United players, like Chelsea, are not playing for their manager

The Barclays Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world. It is the most exciting league as the nature of results is highly unpredictable. So it does not come as a shock that managers, even from top clubs are under scrutiny if the results are unfavorable.
The last week’s sacking of the Special One has sparked off a debate that Manchester United’s Louis van Gaal is also close to an exit from the Old Trafford. United recently have lost two games against two sides who were promoted this season as they are now looking a side that is far away from reaching their aspirations.
These results have intensified the rumors about unrest in the fans and the calls for his sack are increasing rapidly. With Jose Mourinho also available, this might be a tough time for Van Gaal at the helm of Untied.
Mourinho accused his players of betraying him in his last press conference as a manager. He accused them of not playing for him and that the players have not been giving their best in the games when needed. This seemed true with the way the team brushed Sunderland aside in the 3-1 victory this weekend.
Alan Shearer a former Premier League legend and a Match of the day Pundit believes that Manchester United is in a similar position with regard to his players.
“For the Chelsea players with Jose Mourinho now read the Manchester United players with Louis van Gaal. That is three defeats in a row now and they seem to have stopped playing for him,” he said.
“I cannot believe the players Van Gaal has are as poor as they are playing. You can get away with dull performances if results are coming, as they were earlier in the season. But when they stop, that is when you have problems.”
Though United are in a far better position in the league than where Chelsea were when Mourinho was sacked, United slipped out of Europe in an easy group and seriously look a squad devoid of confidence.
The manager will surely have to be careful to avoid further embarrassments else he may not even get a chance to look into the January transfer window before being shown the door at United.
