Chelsea have been a strong outfit going into the new Premier League season after the new manager Antonio Conte added the likes of N’ Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi to his squad in the summer.
However, the manager is still in search of additions to his squad and is mainly looking at reinforcements in defense to help him in tough times.
The manager has looked at the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Nikola Maksimovic and Georgio Chiellini but has not been able to get his hands on either of them.
The squad at the Bridge is a bit weak in defense with Gary Cahill and John Terry the only two senior center halves in the squad and with the deadline day just a week away, the manager is looking elsewhere for additions.
It was earlier reported that Chelsea were pondering over a move for AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli with reported suggesting that the English outfit ready to make a £30m bid for their man.
However, it is now understood that an official bid was indeed made by the Premier League outfit and that it was rejected by the Italian outfit.
The 21-year old Italian international has become an important part of the AC Milan side and made a huge impact on the Serie A last season.
It is revealed that Vicenzo Montella wants the defender to stay at the club for years to come and that a bid from Chelsea was immediately rejected.
Chelsea have looked shaky at the back in the recent games and with Conte also preferring a 3-man defense at times, a move for a center back compulsory for the Italian.
And it is now understood that he has once again failed in a bid to land a top class star this summer.
It will be interesting to see who they will not scout to solve their defensive problems and with the deadline day approaching the targets will only get costlier.
Who do you think Chelsea should sign at center back this summer?
