Relief for Arsene Wenger as Barcelona end pursuit of Arsenal star

Aakarsh / 07 September 2016

In what will come as great news for the Gunners, Spanish giants Barcelona seem to have given up on their pursuit of a top quality star from the squad at the Emirates.

The Gunners are not known to losing top class talent to clubs in Europe but every once in a while, they have fallen prey to the financial power of the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, and Bayern Munich.

They were once again under the cosh this summer as Catalan giants Barcelona wanted the first choice right back to add to their squad this summer.

Spanish international Hector Bellerin, who moved to Arsenal a couple of years ago, has truly established himself in the first team at the Emirates and is slowly growing on to be one of the best full-backs in the Premier League this season.

He was a great influence in the Gunners’ run to the second spot last season and has been attracting interest from Spain for some time now.

Dani Alves, the Brazilian, who has now left the Camp Nou, is not yet replaced with a top quality star and it is understood that Luis Enrique has been looking at Bellerin to fill the void in the squad.

They looked to sign the Spaniard last summer and also recently but it is now understood that they have resigned all their efforts to lure the 21-year old away from the Emirates.

It is revealed that Barcelona are aware of the Wenger’s reluctance to part with the player and that they do not want to be spending over the norm to add the full back to their squad.

It is also reported that the club are happy with the progress of young Sergi Roberto, who has excelled already at the club in different positions on the field.

This will leave Wenger with one less headache, fending off interests for his star players. Do you think Bellerin would be a good fit for Barcelona?
