Chelsea placed a lucrative offer more than the £36million Manchester United forked out for their latest sensation Anthony Martial, according to a report in French media.

CanalPlus magazine revealed the ex-Monaco youngster Martial rejected the Blues offer as he was already dreaming a move to Old Trafford.

On Wednesday night a tweet from CanalPlus magazine stated: ‘According to our information, Chelsea had proposed more money than Manchester United for Anthony Martial but the player dreamed of the Red Devils.’

On the very first day of September the young Frenchman joined Manchester United Martial, for a fee which in near future could rise up to an astonishing £58m and since his joining has hit the ground running performing almost in every match.

The 19-year-old French striker has scored four goals in seven appearances for Manchester United, three of which came in Premier League.

He even impressed his new fans from the very first day of his debut with a stunning goal against the Red Devil’s arch-rivals Liverpool.

Louis van Gaal decided to spend huge money to sign 19-year-old Martial despite the stats not favouring the young lad as he managed to score only 13 competitive goals in his senior outfit.

Martial is now hoping to spearhead the Manchester United attack again as van Gaal’s men are desperate to get back to the winning alley on this weekend when they play against Everton at Goodison Park.
