Bayern Munich captain and ex-German international Philipp Lahm said that he cannot guarantee that his compatriot and team mate Thomas Muller will stay at Bayern Munich this season. The German international is heavily linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United. The Red Devils boss had mentioned earlier that he has still some business to do in the transfer window and he would get a surprise signing soon.
Reports in Germany have claimed that United are preparing a big-money move for Thomas Muller.
Philipp Lahm was asked about the possibilities of Muller leaving the club this season to which he said that he cannot guarantee anything. He was quoted by Sky Sports: “It’s not my decision. Things can happen very quickly in football. I certainly can’t provide any guarantee for Thomas Muller (staying).”
The Bayern captain’s comments is sure to stir up the transfer specualtions which had started a month back after Bastian Schweinsteiger had joined United from Bayern Munich. At that time the club had mentioned that they would not sell anyother player to manchester United.
But now it seems that the Red Devils are still in pursuit for the striker/winger and might rope him as their ‘surprise’ signing.
Philipp Lahm however clearly mentioned that there is no chance of him leaving Bayern Munich like his team mates. Lahm has been laying at the club for the past 13 years.
He further added: “That’s not going to happen with me. I’m pleased that I’ve been able to spend practically all my career at home. It’s great to be in the same club for so long.”
