Premier League Player and Manager of the Month awards for December 2015 have been declared and Watford duo Odion Ighalo and Quique Sanchez Flores have picked up the honours.

Nigeria’s Ighalo has scored 14 goals in the Premier League so far and has a great chance of picking up the Golden Boot as he is just one goal behind Lukaku and Vardy. Ighalo scored in all 5 games that Leicester played last month including 2 against Liverpool and 1 against Chelsea. This award was totally deserved and it is good to see that the Hornets are getting recognition for their amazing season. Ighalo’s tremendous form has not gone unnoticed as top European clubs like Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are said to be eyeing a move for him.

Ighalo’s rich goal-scoring form is largely due to his manager at Watford, Quique Sanchez Flores. Flores joined Watford in 2015 and the club have been scaling new heights under him. In his first season in-charge, Sanchez helped Watford earn promotion to the Premier League and this season has been nothing short of a fairy-tale. Watford are currently just 6 points outside the top-four and are in a strong position to finish inside the top 10.

Watford won their first three games last month before earning a draw at Chelsea, but ended the year with a home defeat against the Spurs. Nonetheless, Watford are having a great season and it was about time these men got the credit they deserved.

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, Marko Arnautovic of Stoke City, young Delli Alli from Spurs and Riyadh Mahrez were also nominated for the Player of the Month prize.

Former Atletico Madrid and Benfica boss, left behind Arsene Wenger, Claudio Ranieri and Alan Pardew to clinch the award.
