Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is certain that Morgan Schneiderlin will be a United player but has also asked his former employees to speed up with the transfer.
Asked whether the proposed £24million transfer would go through or not, Rio replied by saying: “It looks like it’s going to be done”
Adding on to the point, Ferdinand explained why he is excited to see someone like Schneiderlin join United. Rio explained how United have struggled to infuse power and precision in their midfield and in Schneiderlin, they will have someone who can dominate and play at the same time.
Ferdinand highlighted that, Schneiderlin could be the perfect replacement for Michael Carrick who is on the treatment table far often than what United fans would hope for.
Rio said: “I think he’s a player who is going to add something to Manchester United.
“A bit of steal, can play the ball, can pass the ball through the lines in midfield and get the ball from back to front.
“I think he’s a good player and a good addition to the squad, especially if someone like Michael Carrick – who is so influential to Manchester United – gets injured.”
Schneiderlin to United looked like a certainty until yesterday when Southampton manager Ronald Koeman revealed how United are yet to make a concrete offer for the French star.
According to Koeman, Southampton have rejected the initial £24million bid for Schneiderlin and United have not contacted the club since then.
