Roberto Firmino Heavily Impressed With Liverpool’s New Boy Fabio Carvalho Branding Him As A ‘Star’

It looks Liverpool’s summer recruit Fabio Carvalho has already made his point at the club, with Roberto Firmino heaping praise on him. The Brazilian striker has talked about how the 20-year-old has been fantastic at Liverpool in his recent interview with the club’s official website. Carvalho has had a tough start with Liverpool so far, who have collected only two wins from seven games in all competitions.

The Reds were recently drubbed 4-1 in their Champions League opener by Napoli, mounting more pressure on Jurgen Klopp who has vowed to ‘reinvent’ his team. A summer where the likes of Darwin Nunez, Calvin Ramsay, Arthur Melo alongside Fabio Carvalho were welcomed seems to have not been enough for the German. However, one positive he would take is his forgotten knight Firmino being back to his best, and Fabio Carvalho enjoying his life at home in Anfield.

Firmino admits he watched Fabio Carvalho in action for Fulham before the attacker joined Liverpool

Liverpool had almost brokered a deal with Fulham to land Fabio Carvalho back in January earlier this year, only for the move to collapse in the last stage. however, the Reds were determined to acquire him from the Cottagers and renegotiated a deal in April, following the success of which he arrived at Anfield for £5 million. By then, the attacking midfielder had already racked up 10 goals and 8 assists in 36 Championship games.

His numbers sparked excitement at Liverpool who were eager to Carvalho in action donning the famous Red shirt of the club. So far, the Portugal international has chipped-in 2 goals across 148 minutes of Premier League action with Liverpool. However, Roberto Firmino has provided an insight on the 20-year-old and the potential he bears in his new interview. The Brazilian said:

“He [Fabio Carvalho] is a great player. I confess that I had watched some of his games before he came to Liverpool, so I was already impressed by the way he played. He’s a star, he’s a great player and now he’s also a very close friend. We are happy to have him here at Liverpool and I know he will help us a lot, with assists, goals and also his character on the pitch.”

While there were reports suggesting Liverpool could loan the Portuguese talent to a Premier League club or Fulham itself who gained promotion last season, Klopp asserted that Carvalho is ‘here to stay’ and part of his pans for the first-team. It further became evident since the attacker has become a regular with the first-team, gathering 6 appearances so far.

However, Klopp has insisted as well that he won’t rush with the 20-year-old and slowly amalgamate him in his system. Moreover, the company Carvalho is in with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz and Thiago Alcantara, the boy will learn sooner than later and could the Reds’ charge.

As of now however, Klopp needs to sort his side’s poor form and turnaround things at the club. Following the suspension of Premier League games this weekend, Liverpool will now face Ajax in the Champions League; another team which has been brilliant in the European competition in recent years. Klopp will demand an instant response from his team and snatch their first win of the season in the Champions League.
