Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli has revealed that he will not renew his Sevilla contract and has also admitted that there is no interest from Barcelona over signing him.
The Argentine is one of the top candidates that are tipped to replace Luis Enrique at Camp Nou next season after his impressive spell with Sevilla since moving to Spain at the start of the season.
“I do not have to renew because I have a contract,” he told reporters. “Nor is it real that Barcelona have taken an interest in me, they did not contact me.”
Barcelona are currently looking at some high profile names across the world and according to ESPN have not ruled out anyone out yet as it is too early to make a decision as they look for a proper replacement for Enrique.
Sevilla who suffered a shocking exit from Champions League this season in the hands of Leicester City are hopeful of continuing their impressive form in the league.
Sampaoli has also expressed his confidence about his side bouncing back after their poor Champions League display at King Power Stadium that saw them crash out on 3-2 aggregate.
“After you fall down you must get back up and try again,” he added. “It is important that you never get too down or get too high either.
“The Champions League loss was a painful defeat for us but I don’t consider it a great failure.
“It did cause me great pain that even meant I wasn’t able to sleep but as I said, life must go on.
“People will think that we are in a state of depression but it won’t be like that. I am really enjoying my time at the club this season so it is only natural that any defeat we suffer hurts me.”
