Shocking: This Man United Star Has Perfectly Summed Up The Biggest Difference Between LVG and Mourinho

Manchester United have appointed two high-profile managers in recent years, in Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

The latter is currently still trying to get the best from his playing squad that he inherited from the Dutchman in the summer, who was sacked two days after the club’s FA Cup triumph.

But while Van Gaal and Mourinho may have worked together during their time at Barcelona, they contrast quite significantly in terms of their management styles.

Yes, neither will shy away from the media and can be quite fiery characters at times, but in reality – asides from United’s summer arrivals – the squad are adjusting to a whole new style under Mourinho.

And it’s not just the on-field matters that are contrasting either, as Red Devils midfielder Marouane Fellaini revealed, as per Sky Sports.

“Louis van Gaal is stricter. Mourinho is strict, but not like Van Gaal,” Fellaini admitted.

“It is funnier with Mourinho, the training changes all the time. It is not a routine. Van Gaal had his philosophy and he was strict but he was very different.”

Van Gaal took a more military-style approach to training, and enforced strict rules in the club’s canteen and had CCTV installed to monitor the players during training.

However, despite Mourinho and Van Gaal enjoying a close relationship at Barcelona, it was made clear early on that the Portuguese did not take to that managerial philosophy.

Mourinho also even returned himself into the Red Devils dressing room, after Van Gaal had set up his own office to prepare for matches separately from his players on match days.

But while Mourinho’s arrival may be rued by the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has received just seven minutes of football this season, Fellaini believes the former Chelsea boss is the right man to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.

Fellaini added: “I think that Mourinho is the right manager. He has a lot of experience and he knows what he can do but you have to give him time as well so I’m sure the victories will come.”

“He’s asked me to play my game. He knows what I can do. Straight away, he said to me ‘I know you’re quality, I know what you can do.’ During the Euros, he called me and asked if I wanted to move or continue so it definitely gave me a boost.”

The Belgium international arrived at the club during David Moyes’ short and ill-fated reign as United boss, but has managed to keep ahold of his place under Mourinho as they look to regain their place in the Champions League.

But that will be no easy task with the Red Devils currently eight points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal after 13 games.

And Fellaini will be hoping to inflict defeat on his former club on Sunday, when Mourinho takes his side to Everton, who are a point and a place behind them in the Premier League.
