One such player who has now completed a move away from the club is Ivory Coast international Wilfried Bony on deadline day.
Stoke City, one of the many Premier League outfits who have eyed some of the finest talents in Europe have completed the signature of the 27-year old on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
Bony is one of the most prolific goalscorers in England having netted 130 goals in 278 appearances in his career. He moves to the Etihad on a £28m deal on a permanent basis just last January but has hardly got a chance to prove himself under Manuel Pellegrini, the ex-Man City manager.
The new manager has also not been impressed with the striker and it was revealed that he is up for sale early in the summer.
But the Potters only managed to get his signature on deadline day.
After his signature, Mark Hughes told the club website: “Bringing Wilfried in was a no-brainer for us, to be perfectly honest because he knows the Premier League and has scored plenty of goals at this level.
“He has power, speed and very good physical attributes which will undoubtedly help us, and his technical and finishing skills are outstanding, too.”
With all the new signings at the club, it will be interesting to see how Bony settles into his life at the Bet365 stadium this season.
