One of the most successful mangers in the world of football, Pep Guardiola has been a sensation at the German Club Bayern Munich after his stint with Barcelona.
Having won the Bundesliga title in record time last season, he has made it clear that he will not extend his contract with the German giants and has expressed his desire to manage an EPL club.
Soon after, Manchester City, one of the richest clubs in Europe were tagged as favorites to land the Spanish manager at the end of the season. But there have been rumors that he can accept jobs from Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea as well.
But the war of words has already begun at the Etihad with a star player’s agent expressing that Guardiola is over-rated in a recent interview.
Dimitri Seluk, the agent of mid-fielder Yaya Toure told the Sun Mirror that Guardiola is over rated and that his client might once again be pushed out of the club as it happened when Toure was at Barcelona under Guardiola few years ago.
Seluk said, “Pep is a great coach. But he has won the title at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The truth is that my grandfather would win the title with Barcelona and Bayern Munich because they are big clubs with great players. I’d like to see Pep take a club that is eighth or ninth and make them champions.”
Guardiola made a public statement in 2010 that the 32-year old Ivorian International was not a player that fits into his game and that he had to let him go for the sake of the team.
Seluk added, “I don’t know what Guardiola’s plans are, but – after what happened at Barcelona – of course it is a worry that when he comes Yaya will be out. I hope not and Yaya hopes not.”
It would be harsh for the Citizens to let go a player who has given them great memories over the years, but if Guardiola’s move comes through, Toure will surely have a tough time finding a regular place in the City starting XI.
