Striker Ibrahimovic rules out Malmo return

Stockholm, June 1 (IANS) Star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Wednesday squashed speculation about a return to childhood club Malmo, saying he is too good to play in Sweden’s domestic football.

On Monday Ibrahimovic had said he would return to Malmo someday with many believing he would make a sensational switch to his first club.

The 34-year-old who is presently available on a free transfer following the expiry of his Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) contract, said he only plans to return to his home town with the national team.

“I am too good for Allsvenskan,” the Sweden captain was quoted as saying by goal.com.

Ibrahimovic played for Malmo from 1996 to 2001. He then went on to play for Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona and AC Milan before joining PSG in 2012.

Reportedly new Manchester United chief coach Jose Mourinho is keen on buying the former Barcelona striker but for now Ibrahimovic is tight-lipped about his future.

“I want you to write stories, they get me excited, and see who can make up the best ones,” Ibrahimovic said.

“When I get tired of them, I’ll let you know where I’ll go.”
