Chelsea's Strongest starting XI for the next season

Aakarsh / 27 July 2015

Jose Mourinho successfully took his Chelsea side to a brace in the 2014-15 season after going trophy-less in the previous. He has a great set of players who provide him great versatility in the middle and he would want to prove his consistency with at least another trophy in the new season.

The club has been relatively silent in the transfer market and the loan deal for Radamel Falcao is the only business that the club has been involved in. But Mourinho knows how to get the best out of his squad and he will want to make sure that the best XI will play every game of the season.

With only 10 days to go for the start of the new season, we will take a look at the strongest side that Chelsea can field on the first match day of the season-

Jose Mourinho’s sides are well known for their defensive strength and this Chelsea side was the most successful side defensively in the previous season. John Terry the veteran along with Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma will be the central defenders in front of the big man Thibaut Courtois. Azpilicueta, Ivanovic and want away star Filipe Luiz make for a very good trio of wing backs who have good defensive knowledge of the game along with the enthusiasm to add to the attacking side of the team.

Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta and Ivanovic will be sure starters along with Courtois in the defensive side of the things for the reigning English champions.

The defensive half of the mid field is manned astonishingly well by Nemanja Matic. He has been at his best for the last two seasons for the club and the fans will want more of the same from the versatile mid-fielder. Cesc Fabreagas will be another sure starter for the blues and will play an important part of the plans of the club for the new season. The January signing Cuadrado or Ramires will take the third place in the midfield trio for the club.

Ruben-Loftus Cheek may find his place in the cup matches but Matic and Fabregas will be sure starters for the club in the up-coming season.

Chelsea were not only the best club defensively last season, they were also fluid in attack. They had the ability to wear opponents down and produce that bit of brilliance to take the game away from them. Hazard who was the main stay of Chelsea last season will have a lot to do this season as well. He will be aided by either Willian or Oscar in the middle. Diego Costa who had a great debut season in the Premier League will lead the line and Loic Remy along with the new comer Falcao will act as back-ups for the ex-Atleti forward.

Mourinho was at his best in shuffling the players around in the last season when he won the title. He has enough fire power up front and a lot of depth in the squad this season. So the manager will not only want to defend his domestic league title but will also want to prove his metal in the UEFA Champions League.
