A supercomputer has predicted the winner as well as the final standings of the Premier League, which heavily contradicts what Manchester United legend Gary Neville recently called. As of now, Arsenal are at the summit with a mammoth eight-point gap over second-placed Manchester City. The Gunners are now heavily tipped to go all the way and lift their maiden league title since the 03/04 season.

However, Neville feels Arsenal are not yet there as they won’t be crowned the champions this season. He further tipped Manchester City to defend their title from last season. But given the gap between the top two, its tough to believe his calls that Arsenal are going to concede their lead. Moreover, history too favours the North Londoners that no team has ever failed to win the league with such a lead.

Supercomputer predicts Arsenal to win the Premier League after almost two decades

Arsenal have been in scintillating form this season, which has helped them race to a commanding lead at the top of the league. They have picked a staggering 15 wins from 18 games so far, losing only once. Their recent away win in the North London Derby over Tottenham was a statement that they aren’t shying away from going for the unprecedented title triumph.

And now, the bettingexpert have compiled BETSiE, a supercomputer to predict the final standings of the Premier league. The supercomputer has further cemented Arsenal’s title charge, as it has predicted the Gunners to win the league by accumulating 87.4 points at the end of the 38 rounds, six more than Manchester City who have been given the runners-up spot in the table with 81.4 points. BETSiE takes variables like xG and xA into account to give the predictions.

Arsenal have delivered their best point tally in the history of the league at this point, by winning 47 points out of a possible 54, to lead City who have collected 39. With the two clubs occupying the top-two positions, the supercomputer has further put Manchester United in third, with 74.6 points, 13 points adrift of the Gunners. On the other hand, Neville had predicted that the two Manchester club will finish in the top-two spots, with City as the winners, and Arsenal falling to third. He had said on his podcast:

“Manchester City will win the league, and I think Man Utd will finish second, and I know that will annoy Arsenal fans! The reality of it is, I think at some point Man City will hit a run. Once they do, they’ve got to play Arsenal twice. If Erling Haaland starts to kick on, if City start to purr, if the defence starts to shore up a bit more than it has done, and they need Ruben Dias back if they can, I think City will win it.”

“At some point, there will be a very difficult period for Arsenal this season. Is it conceivable that they are going to continue as they are? I don’t think it is. Could they draw two and lose one in a three-game period, and if they did that, their lead is gone, and the pack is up with them?”

The supercomputer however still have a surprising prediction, as it has tipped Newcastle United to a top-four finish in the Premier League for the first time since 2003. The Magpies are currently sat third with 38 points, just a point behind City. Eddie Howe’s team is predicted to accumulate 72.8 points. Meanwhile, Tottenham are tipped to finish sixth, Liverpool at seventh and Chelsea at ninth. As for the relegation, Wolves, Bournemouth and Everton are predicted to get the fall.
