Chelsea are fast moving towards their time beyond Jose Mourinho. According to reports from Metro, Chelsea have held advanced talks to sign PSG midfielder Marco Verrati. This comes from the player’s agent Donato Di Campli, who revealed the extent of offer made by Premier League club.

Speaking with Mundo Deportivo, Campli revealed how his client is keeping the option open of joining Premier League and to extend his PSG contract. Campli acknowledged the offers made by Chelsea but also cited that Verratti’s most likely destination will be PSG.

Verratti has been key for PSG’s season so far, who will face Chelsea in the Champions League knock out rounds next month. Manager Laurent Blanc has also hailed the Italian as the best mifielder in the world right when it comes to shielding his back-four.

Often compared to Andrea Pirlo, Verratti has much more to his game than given credit for. He is energetic, loves to take on defense and also has an eye for goal. He is the true box-to-box midfielder one can hope to have in their team.

Chelsea have struggled so far this season in that area with Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas not doing their duties properly. They have left their defense open and it has come back to haunt them. It has seen them struggle with relegation battle in hand, however, with Verratti’s signature in plans, we could be seeing the dawn of a new era at Stamford Bridge.
