Barclays Premier League Match Day 6: Team of the Week,

Aakarsh / 21 September 2015

The new season of the Barclays Premier League has already finished 6 game weeks and the table is already taking shape. The top clubs have not faired particularly well on Match Day 6 as Arsenal and Manchester City failed to take even a point from their games. Liverpool were also held at Anfield by a gritty Norwich City side.

Here is the Team of the week for the Barclays Premier League Matchday 6.

GK: David de Gea (Manchester United)

The United shot-stopper was the biggest reason why United were able to take all three points from St Mary’s. De Gea who is not new to saving United at the back was once again had to work too much as the United defense failed to keep the Saints at bay.

LB: Alberto Moreno (Liverpool)

The Liverpool youngster was playing at the left back position was at the heart of everything good that the club produced in the attack. He also provided the assist for the only goal and was also solid as a rock in defense.

CB: Kurt Zouma (Chelsea)

Chelsea saw off 9 men Arsenal with a 2-0 victory at the Bridge and Kurt Zouma at the center of the Chelsea defense had a major role to play. He never allowed Arsenal to settle into a rhythm and broke up play very easily when the gunners were on the attack. An assure performance from the center back.

CB: Winston Reid (West Ham United)

West Ham United stunned league leaders Manchester City with a 2-1 victory at the Etihad. Reid was at his solid best as he did exceptionally well to contain the likes of Toure, Aguero and de Bruyne. He never let City dominate his box and gave West Ham all three points from the game.

RB: Daryl Janmaat (Newcastle United)

Newcastle United lost their home game against Watford but Janmaat at the wing back position showed great courage as he kept the visitors away from his box. He dominated the flank on both ends of the field and caused a lot of trouble to the Watford team. Was unlucky to end on the losing side.

CM: Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

After a long time, Fabregas was at his best in the game against Arsenal. He sat back and kept possession at will. He showed his vision and his range of passing in a game where Arsenal were down to 9 men. He controlled the pace in the midfield and set up Chelsea on the counters.

CM: Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)

Scored his firs goal in City colors in a losing cause. de Bryune was bright for most of the game and looked like taking the game away from WHU. But some good defensive display by the visitors made sure de Bruyne ended on the losing side.

LM: Son Heung-Min (Tottenham)

Tottenham finished a tricky fixture against Crystal Palace with a 1-0 victory at home. Heung Min was an important part of the game for Tottenham as he regularly drove at the heart of the Palace defense. He had a complete game as he also worked hard in the defensive front.

RM: Dimitri Payet (West Ham United)

Payet made a huge contribution to the win against Manchester City. He drove forward from the defensive half of the field and held the ball up when needed which released pressure on the West Ham defense. He was also showing his skill and should have had a goal of his own on the day.

ST: Odion Ighalo (Watford City)

Watford City put in a good performance at the St James’s Park as they took away all three points. Odion Ighalo had a game to remember as he scored a brace in the first half that was enough to get the victory. He showed pace and skill in front of goal and has a bright future ahead.

ST: Anthony Martial (Manchester United)

The costliest teenager in World Football is on a mission to prove his critics wrong. 80 minutes and 3 goals. This is his record so far in the Premier League. He scored a brace against the Saints that gave his team all three points in a close encounter at the St Mary’s.
