Hakim Ziyech was left utterly devastated and heartbroken after he was sitting at the Paris airport, bracing himself for a loan move to PSG, and everything just collapsed due to a mistake from his current employers, Chelsea. The twist served an epic drama in an already busy deadline day of the January transfer window, as Ziyech now stares a return to London regretting his failed move to the Parisian club.
The Moroccan has had wanted to leave Stamford Bridge since the summer, after falling out of favour of Graham Potter. The new Chelsea manager has used Ziyech as a starter on only six occasions and as a substitute on nine across his 15 appearances. With the winger desperate to get more minutes, PSG were ready to offer him with it as they almost had a loan deal over the line, only for Chelsea to mess it up.

Chelsea’s delay with the paperwork left Hakim Ziyech stranded in Paris
This was a rare case of a player, ready to complete his move to a club, only to be stranded in the middle after his parent club committed the silliest of mistakes. Hakim Ziyech found himself in that rare occasion as despite flying out to Paris as quickly as hurriedly as he can, he now faces an embarrassment of returning to London to attend the Blues’ training session at Cobham.
But where did it exactly went wrong for the Morocco international? According to L’Equipe, the mooted loan transfer of Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea to Paris Saint-Germain has fallen through because the French league rejected it. The Premier League side apparently neglected to submit the required paperwork ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The legal committee of the Professional Football League [LFP] convened on Wednesday morning to review the loan, but declined to approve it. Hakim Ziyech had even agreed personal terms with PSG, and Chelsea too had accepted the Ligue 1 side’s conditions. However, the Morocco international was left baffled and blank faced in Paris after the move fell through. A PSG source even labelled the scenario a “Class A circus,” according to English outlet The Athletic.

All the parties included in the deal are now trying to figure out if there’s a solution to revive the dead deal. Transfer expert Ben Jacobs has revealed that the defending Ligue 1 champions are ready to appeal to the LFP, although the club is well aware that chances are far and away that they attain success with it. Jacobs revealed:
Several Premier League clubs, as well as the likes of AC Milan, Roma, and RB Leipzig, were interested in Ziyech before he chose PSG. However, his propose move has fallen through, and he must now return to Stamford Bridge. With only 10 Premier League outings this season, Ziyech has found it difficult to establish his place in Chelsea’s starting lineup. Meanwhile, Chelsea conducted heavy business this month, bringing in Enzo Fernandez, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, David Datro Fofana, and Joao Felix.
