Top 10 performers in La Liga in 2015

Puja Pincha / 29 December 2015

With the year closing in to allow us to move on to 2016, there have been certain highlights of this year which we will remember for a long time to come. The magic of MSN, the meaningless sacking of Carlo Ancelloti, Ex Mancheter United star takes up coaching job in Spain, the comaback of EL Nino to his home turf, a terrific performance by Celta to see the Catalan giants down and out by 4 goals and ofcourse the EL Clasico! The year has been a roller coaster and has seen some terrific performance, so as we pull down the curtains on yet another glorious year, we have made a list of the 10 best performers in La Liga this year!

Gareth Bale

The Welsh wizard came to Madrid on the backs of the most expensive transfer in the history of the game and it would be an understatement to say that he has been instrumental for Madrid (he won the Champions League for the Los Blancos! I rest my case). The exTottenham star hasn’t been a highlight of this season because of the calf that has plagued him since forever. Despite being overshadowed by injuries the forward has scored 14 goals in 2015 and added to that tally are his 12 assists that has made it easier for his teammates to score 9 or 10 goals in a match!

Antonio Adan

The former Madrid man has been the shining light for Betis. Betis currently occupy the 11th position in the league and have rejoined the Spanish stalwarts after winning the Segunda division and Adan’s good form has carried on to the La Liga. Adan has recorded the highest number of saves, 56 saves in the League and his performance in this year, bringing his team back to the La Liga is absolutely praiseworthy and hence makes the list.

Diego Godin

If you are a Madrid fan you can possibly never forget the header of this particular individual which potentially sucked all hope of winning the La Decima in that fateful final! That is the power of the Uruguayan defender. Godin has been a key figure for the Roji Blancos and season after season the man just keeps getting better. At 29 he is potentially the best defender in the league and without any question makes the list!

This particular Spaniard has attracted the eye of Arsene Wenger and that is proof enough of the terrific season that he has had. Celta’s good run this season can be attributed to the antics of this 29 year old.Nolito has scored a total of 16 goals in this calendar and has also been the premier assists provider for his team. An all in one package, no doubt Wenger wants the man to add firepower to the Gunners!

Jan Oblak

The Atletico Madrid goalkeeper has had big shoes to fill in after the departure of the Belgian Thibaut Courtois. But the 22 year old from Slovenia has created his own brand of goalkeeping displaying terrific control and instincts. Attributed with the record of the most number of clean sheets in the league this seaon, Oblak has been a find for the Rojiblancos.

Antonio Griezmann

The man’s reputation precedes his name and any list about top performers would be incomplete without the Frenchman, and that my friend is the proof of his consistency at the top levels. Griezmann has scored a whopping 24 goals in this year and is one of the major reasons behind the rise of the Madrid outfit.

Cristiano Ronaldo

What can one say about this Portuguese? The man redefines hardwork and the work rate that he can boast of rests all the doubts as to why he is called the beast. Those runs, the leaps, the free kicks, the commander has all tricks in his bag! Well the ex Manchester United star has scored 36 goals along with providing 12 assists! Amazing much?

Luis Suarez

MSN have dominated this year and thus it’s no surprise that the Ex Liverpool force makes the list. The world was a witness to the champion abilities of the Uruguayan after he became the highest goal scorer in the league despite missing a total of 9 games (you know why). Since his shift to the Catalan club, the forward has grown to newer heights and has immediately gotten accustomed to the Spanish game. Suarez has scored a total of 25 goals this season and his partnership with Messi and Neymar is likely to lead to many more goals and many more trophies!

Lionel Messi

Enumerating all his achievements would be an insult to the Argentinean and also it would take a really long time! The little man spells class and come what may he will score! 33 goals in the calendar year just tells you about the prowess of that gentleman. Barcelona has reached to great heights on the backs of that Argentinean and there is a long road ahead and he will keep amusing us and wowing us with his magic!

The Brazilian has rightly earned a Ballon d’Or nomination and his force is absolutely unstoppable. Neymar has been the highest goal scorer in the League this season beating Messi and Ronaldo to the record. In the entire year Neymar has scored a total of 25 goals along with proving regular assists to Messi and Suarez. Barcelona has always been a force to reckon with, but the trio that currently lead the attack have made the team invincible.
