Over the years, the English Premier League has been known for providing chances for young aspiring footballers from all around the world. The domestic circuit in England is one of the strongest in Europe and players from all around Europe participate in this league adding more excitement. However, it is not easy for the youngsters to play at the highest level and not many impress when given the chance.
Here is a list of five Under-21 players who have impressed one and all in the on-going season of the Barclays Premier League.
1. Anthony Martial (Manchester United):
The costliest teenager in the Premier League, Anthony Martial moved to Manchester United in the closing days of the summer transfer window. Louis van Gaal spent loads of money to bring him to Old Trafford and there were doubts in many minds if the French International was worth it. But at the age of 19, he has been the brightest star for Manchester United so far this season. His quick feet and great skill often embarrasses opponents and his finishing is also admirable. He has scored 3 goals so far this season and will only improve as his career progresses.
2. Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur):
The mid-field power house of Pochettino’s Hotspur, Dele Alli has grown through leaps and bounds at the club. He started as a defender but has been exceptional in the middle for the Spurs. He is really good at reading the game and breaking play just in front of his defense and also has a range of passing that can set his team up on counter attacks when under pressure. He has scored 2 goals for the club so far in his 11 appearances in the domestic league.
3. Raheem Sterling (Manchester City):
The Jamaican born speed-star, Raheem Sterling made a big money move from the Red of Merseyside to Manchester City this summer and has already looked at home at the Etihad. He is one of the quickest players in the Premier League and his ability to run with the ball and take defenders on is something every manager loves. He is incredibly strong for his age and does not shy away from a challenge. He has played 11 games for Pellegrini’s side so far this season and has already scored 4 goals for the club. He is surely a player who will make any side strong.
4. Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur):
Another England U21 prospect Eric Dier has been in good form for the Spurs this season. Dier who will turn 22 next January is a player who has all the attributes of a top class defender. He is exceptional with his spatial awareness and is also strong on the ball in defense. He has good ariel ability and is a threat during set-pieces at the other end. He has played 11 of the 12 games for the club this season and has scored 2 goals already. Pochettino will hope that he can keep up his form and help his team to a top four finish this season.
5. Hector Bellerin (Arsenal):
The Spanish born left back, Bellerin has taken the Emirates by a storm with his skill and pace down the flank. He is one of those left backs who is relentless and full of running. He is solid in defense closing any visible gaps giving the opponents no space what-so-ever. But his best performances for the club have come when he makes his marauding runs forward leaving a trail of defenders behind with his pace. He is a very good crosser and adds to the attacking ability of Arsene Wenger’s squad. He has made 10 appearances for the club and has made a difference every time he has stepped on the field.
