With Roman Abramovich taking over Chelsea in 2003, he has managed to attract many world-class talents to Chelsea. The transfer policy of Chelsea took a new twist and the Blues were able to win their first Premier League title followed with Champions League in 2012 and Europa League in 2013.

However, the transfer policy of Chelsea have been criticized by everyone due to their wastage of young talent to an extent. The transfer policy is termed as “Buy and Loan” policy as Blues often find good players and will loan them to other clubs for playing time.

In this article, we look at the five players whom Chelsea sold recently to other top clubs who were capable of being world-class.

5. Kevin de Bruyne –

One of the most promising talents in entire Europe, the Belgian midfielder found it hard to earn a permanent spot in playing XI. He then opted to go away from Chelsea with Jose Mourinho handing him a transfer to Wolfsburg. He broke into Wolfsburg first team and has been arguably Bundesliga’s best midfielder so far this season. He also played a crucial role in Wolfsburg’s truimph to 2nd place in Bundesliga. He will be the most wanted player by the biggest clubs in future.

4. Andre Schurrle –

One of the most exciting prospects when arrived at Chelsea, Andre Schrrule’s playing time was not given as expected. He was mostly used as a secondary substitute to either Willian or Hazard. This has effected his game to a level. With no guarantees provided by Mourinho, Schurrle decided to part ways with Chelsea to get playing time at Wolfsburg. He made his debut for Wolfsbug against Hoffenhiem and provided 2 assists in their 3-0 victory.

3. Romelu Lukaku –

Having gone on loan to Everton in 2013/14 season, Lukaku has been a regular starter throughout the season. Having played a pivotal role in their 2013/14 season, Everton agreed to pay a 28 million sum to permenantly sign Lukaku. The striker is making big name in premier league scoring lot of goals for Everton. 

2. Juan Mata –

Being named as Chelsea’s player of the season for two consecutive seaasons but life under Jose Mourniho was not so good for Juan Mata with the star player often benched. After six long months, Juan Mata signed for Manchester United in the winter transfer window for a reported 37.1 million deal. Juan Mata since then have been a regular starter for Manchester united making excellent contributions in central midfield.

One of the highly rated strikers in entire Europe, Daniel Sturridge has made his name stand among the best strikers by moving away from Chelsea to Liverpool. Having playd mostly as a secondary striker to Drogba, Sturridge found it difficult to break into first team. With life getting hard at Stamford Bridge, Sturridge opted for Liverpool where he made history with Suarez.
